Sunday Salon

Catching Up

It's been awhile since my last Sunday Salon post. During the week of Thanksgiving, I decided not to use the internet. No checking of e-mails, reading blogs, nothing. I thought it would be pretty difficult for me to do, but as the week went on, I just didn't think about it much. Of course I had my mind on the holiday so that helped too. I was amazed of how much I was able to accomplish each night without being distracted (ok, procrastinating) by my internet use! Imagine that...

While away for the holiday, I finished three books: The Ten Best Days of My Life by Adena Halpern, Cross Country by James Patterson and Dashing Through the Snow by Mary Higgins Clark and Carol Higgins Clark. As soon as I returned home, life got in the way and I just decided not to write reviews for these books. My to do list is overwhelming as I try to prepare for the upcoming holidays. I've decided some things will just not get done.

This week, I read and reviewed Slay It with Flowers by Kate Collins. This is a good cozy mystery series (in case someone is looking for a new series to read). Yesterday I listened to The Christmas Box by Richard Paul Evans. The audio book is read by Richard Thomas. I'm currently reading Frenemies by Megan Crane. I plan to finish it later this afternoon and the review will be posted later this week.

After reviewing my yearly stats, I discovered I read 100 books in 2008!!! This is HUGE for me! Last year I read 60 which was pretty impressive (I read 52 in 2006). At the end of last year, I discovered reading challenges and by completing these challenges, I've read 105 books so far this year. I'm aiming for 110 by Dec. 31st. I think I can read 5 more books before then. My goal next year is 120.

Yesterday and this morning, I've been revising my blog. I added two new blogs to track my reading challenges for 2009 and the books I read. I'm still adding challenges, but I think I'm just about finish.

That's it for me... how are you spending your Sunday?

  1. Congrats on the reading milestone! There's something so satisfying about reading more in each successive year. I'm sure you'll make it to 110 by the end of 2008.

  2. I have done the same - created a blog for my reading list and also a blog for my challenges.

I was trying for 100 books this year but school kept getting in the way - LOL!!! Hopefully next year I can make it.

Congrats on the 100 mark and good luck in the 2009 challenges - it seems we joined a lot of the same ones.
